NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Waiting List Team as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP). This innovative team has been established to reduce waiting times across the three Tier 3 CAMHS teams with the longest waits for assessment and intervention.
You will work under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist, delivering psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions to children and young people. Newly qualified Psychologists are encouraged to apply. As part of Specialist Children's Services, you will benefit from being part of a large and supportive psychology network, with strong links to both the University of Glasgow's Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and the University of Edinburgh's MSc in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
You will work as part of the CAMHS Waiting List Team to support a targeted programme aimed at reducing the longest waits for assessment and intervention. Under the supervision of a Principal Psychologist, you will undertake psychological assessments and deliver prescribed, evidence-based interventions to children and young people, with a particular focus on neurodevelopmental assessments and short-term interventions that enable timely treatment and discharge.
Working within a small, dedicated team, you will contribute to service innovation and development, helping to improve access to psychological care in line with the principles of Realistic Medicine. Your workload will be specifically designed to support waiting list reduction rather than follow the standard CAPA model, with work allocated by the CAMHS Clinical Coordinator.
We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities.
As an NHS Scotland employee, you will be entitled to:
NHSGGC recognises the importance of work-life balance and is committed to offering a range of flexible working options where service needs allow. For roles where less than full-time hours can be accommodated, and where the tenure is listed as “various”, we encourage applications from individuals seeking flexible working arrangements. Flexible working will be included as a topic for discussion during the recruitment process.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and are proud of the diverse workforce we employ.
By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, NHSGGC has pledged its commitment to being a Forces Friendly Employer. We welcome applications from across the Armed Forces Community and recognise military skills, experience and qualifications throughout the recruitment and selection process.
