Commissioning Technologist - Processing Lines (f/m/d)

In this role you will lead global commissioning of processing lines and rolling mills for flat products, ensuring set-ups meet quality and capacity targets. You’ll optimize processes, analyze mechanical and automation data, and document acceptance tests. You’ll perform service work for repairs, feed performance insights back to the company, and train customers. The position supports SMS group’s mission to advance sustainable, carbon-neutral metals production and requires collaboration across international teams.

• Coordinate and execute commissioning of processing lines and rolling mills for flat products
• Optimize process parameters to meet quality and capacity targets
• Analyze operating data focusing on mechanical systems, automation, and processes
• Draft optimization measures and drive improvements within the commissioning team
• Conduct and document acceptance tests
• Perform service assignments for repairs and maintenance
• Provide feedback on main operating results to the company
• Train customers on operation and maintenance of equipment

• Engineering degree or relevant technical/industrial vocational training (rolling mill foreman)
• Experience in practical operation of processing lines and cold rolling mills in steel, aluminum, or copper
• Knowledge of mechatronic systems
• Ability to evaluate plant data
