Overview

Control Systems Engineer for Structural Tests (d/f/m) is sought to support the structures test department within airframe engineering at Airbus Operations. The role offers collaboration across office and lab environments in a very international setting. Empirical validation of aircraft design is a vital step in development and certification. The structures test department performs static and fatigue tests on various sizes of aircraft structure specimens, applying state-of-the-art methods to control load application and measure specimen response. The role includes exploring and validating the latest test control technology and algorithms in collaboration with colleagues across European Airbus sites. The position may also be available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your location: You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft in Hamburg, with access to ferry commuting and opportunities to enjoy local culture and nautic heritage.

Responsibilities

  • Setup of state-of-the-art control systems based on commercially available technology.
  • Installation and configuration of control systems for test rigs.
  • Enable fast test performance by optimisation of controllers.
  • Creation of load profiles for static and fatigue tests.
  • Management of subcontracted electrical installation activities.
  • Ensurance of quality standards by securing and documenting the accuracy of load introduction.
  • Development of new control system solutions within transnational collaborations.

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering or science.
  • Good knowledge of control theory, signal processing and servo-hydraulic systems.
  • Several years of professional experience in setup of control systems (e.g., electrical installation, setup of computer networks and/or application of dedicated software solutions).
  • Programming ability in any language.
  • Open attitude towards working with various software packages.
  • Ability to work under time pressure without compromising quality.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable communication.
  • Willingness to collaborate transnationally, including occasional travel to other European Airbus sites.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus.
