Customs Specialist (EXCISE)

Overview

In this role you drive compliance with European and local excise rules while advising on excise matters within international goods flows. You will blend hands-on operations with process improvement to create practical, future-proof excise controls. You’ll act as a knowledgeable point of contact for audits, customs and tax interactions and help shape the excise structure across the Netherlands and Germany. This is an international, cross-functional role with a strong impact on risk management and efficiency.

Verantwortungsbereiche

Ensure compliance with European and local excise legislation
Advise on excise-related aspects within international goods flows
Improve processes and controls by identifying risks and developing procedures and master data checks
Prepare for and support audits, inspections and interactions with customs and tax authorities
Shape structure and ways of working for excise activities across Netherlands and Germany
Oversee topics from broad perspective and contribute to developing processes

Zentrale Anforderungen

Excise and customs expertise with demonstrable knowledge of excise duties
Experience in excise duties, EMCS, energy products, mineral oils or lubricants is a strong advantage
Regulatory and classification knowledge; ability to read and translate excise legislation
Analytical and structured with ability to manage complex regulations and develop procedures
Strong communicator and connector; able to collaborate across teams and challenge stakeholders
International mindset; English required; Dutch and/or German an advantage
Affinity with software solutions and cross-border excise transactions is a plus
Experience in broader customs and trade compliance shortened to risk mitigation in excise
