Data Center Facilities Technician, Electrical (English, German) (m/w/d)

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with Electrical Distribution Systems (High Voltage, Low Voltage, Protection and Controls, Power Quality).
• Ability to work non‑standard hours, including weekends and holidays on shift‑based schedules as required.
• Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as lifting and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
• Ability to communicate in English and German fluently to work with colleagues.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience planning and executing installation, commissioning, and equipment startup, following industry best practices and protocols.
• Experience working in the control room for critical operations.
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments and controls/monitoring systems.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and people management skills, with the ability to prioritize work efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation, monitoring, and support of physical facilities conditions in data centers.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as piping, non‑critical electrical, or mechanical components.
• Assist senior technicians by reading blueprints/schematics, conducting system tours, and assessing working order.
• Develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency.
• Ensure environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly.
• Manage data center performance issues and outages in emergency or abnormal conditions, minimizing recovery time.
• Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
• Maintain uptime and performance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, control, and monitoring systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
