Director Global Transportation Management (m/f/d)

As Director Global Transportation Management, you are responsible for defining and leading MANN+HUMMEL’s global end-to-end transportation strategy, standards, and operational execution model. You establish and implement a standardized Transportation Management framework based on a “One Template” approach, encompassing carrier and transportation service provider management, global tender management, as well as the design and future operation of a Global Transportation Management Center.

In this role, you ensure that transportation processes across all regions, clusters, and manufacturing sites are executed in a cost-efficient, compliant, and high-performance manner. In addition, you serve as the global functional authority and primary point of contact for Operations (OPS), regional organizations, Procurement, and the Service Center, driving alignment and best practices across the organization.

Your Challenge

  • Own the global Transportation Management strategy and govern the consistent implementation of the “One Template” approach across all regions, clusters, and manufacturing sites.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance global standards for transportation service provider management, including performance management through Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), as well as the associated contractual frameworks.
  • Ensure the global standardization of transportation contracts, freight rate structures, and service definitions in close collaboration with Procurement.
  • Define and implement standardized tendering processes and lead global and regional transportation tenders in collaboration with regional Transportation Management and Procurement teams.
  • Establish and operate a Global Transportation Management Center (TMC) in close collaboration with the Service Center to drive operational excellence, process standardization, and efficiency.
  • Drive the reduction and consolidation of fragmented 4PL solutions in favor of a standardized and scalable operating model.
  • Ensure cross-functional and cross-regional alignment while fostering the exchange of best practices across the global Transportation Management community.
  • Define, monitor, and govern transportation KPIs, creating end-to-end performance transparency and establishing standardized reporting structures

Profile Description

  • Education: Successfully completed university degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field.
  • Experience: More than 10 years of professional experience in global transportation management, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Professional Expertise
    • Proven track record in developing and implementing global transportation strategies, as well as managing tenders and logistics service providers (3PL/4PL).
    • Extensive experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and SAP environments.
    • Experience with shared service models (GBTS) as well as the transformation and continuous improvement of global operating and organizational models.
  • Languages: Excellent written and spoken English; additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Personality
    • Strong leadership capabilities and excellent stakeholder management skills within global matrix organizations.
    • Strategic mindset combined with a hands‑on execution approach and a strong results orientation.
    • Availability for internaional travel up to 50%.
