You will be part of the International Policy Analysis Division in the Directorate General International and European Relations. The Division prepares policy positions for the ECB, the Eurosystem and the European System of Central Banks on European and global macroeconomic and financial issues. Current projects involve global imbalances, geopolitical fragmentation, technological innovation and the digitalisation of money.
In your role as an Economist you will be part of a team of about 25 staff who prepare policy positions, analyses and briefings on global international markets – including exchange rates, capital markets and commodities – to support the Governing Council’s decision‑making. The team also prepares policy positions and analyses on issues relating to the international monetary system, the international role of the euro, the international financial architecture, global financial stability risks, and the global dimension of central bank policies. In addition, we analyse activities of the G7, G20, IMF and BIS and support the ECB’s representation in these fora.
The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the analysis of international topics and help shape the ECB’s policy views. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
You engage collaboratively with others, pursue team goals, learn willingly from diverse perspectives, signal any need for change by explaining it and proposing alternative solutions, analyse complex information effectively, and can evaluate different views to arrive at solutions. You know and anticipate stakeholder needs.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution, and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are motivated to be part of our team and to develop and use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
The contract offered will be short‑term ESCB/IO, the appointment being for 12 months as of the exact starting date of the selected person, extendable to up to 36 months. Candidates must have a contract of employment with their home institution for a period of at least one year beyond the duration of the ECB contract being offered.
