Engineer - Customer Application Engineering

You will act as the technical interface between customers and Magna Mechatronics engineering teams, supporting product development from concept to series launch. Based at customer sites in Wolfsburg and Sindelfingen, you collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering deliverables meet requirements. The role emphasizes customer-facing technical leadership, problem solving, and driving successful product launches. • Provide technical support to customers throughout product development
• Maintain a daily presence at customer sites and travel to other locations
• Coordinate customer requests for development, testing, and approvals
• Support technical presentations and customer workshops
• Participate in project reviews and development phase approvals
• Monitor development progress and ensure timely engineering deliverables
• Manage open issues and escalation for critical topics
• Develop technical concepts and engineering proposals for customer applications
• Analyze customer requirements and align with product specifications
• Support successful launch of new products into series production
• Manage engineering changes across product lifecycle
• Prepare and maintain project documentation

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
• Several years of experience in product development or technical customer support in automotive industry
• Strong understanding of mechanical and mechatronic systems
• Excellent communication skills with experience leading technical discussions and negotiations
• Strong customer focus and ability to work in customer-facing environments
• Analytical mindset with structured, solution-oriented approach
• Innovative thinking and enthusiasm for new technologies
• High initiative and ability to work independently
• Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
