Engineer III – Forward Deployed

• Build internal operational decision tools using forecasting, optimization, simulation, and analytical outputs


• Work with operational stakeholders to understand decision-making processes and translate needs into workflows


• Partner with data scientists and IT to productionize models and analytical solutions


• Connect applications to operational data, databases, APIs, cloud data platforms, and enterprise systems


• Build working solutions quickly and iterate based on user feedback and observed usage


• Develop reusable components, patterns, and frameworks for Operations applications


• Own application development and partner with IT on deployment, monitoring, security, and ongoing support


• Troubleshoot issues and improve application performance, reliability, and usability


• Document application logic, architecture, workflows, and dependencies


• Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and technical considerations to data scientists, operational stakeholders, and technology partners


• Report to the Director, Operations Data Science & AI

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required


• 4+ years of software development experience, including building data-intensive applications, internal tools, or analytical applications


• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL


• Experience developing applications that interact with databases, APIs, and analytical models


• Experience rapidly building and deploying data-intensive applications or decision-support tools


• Experience with Git, testing, CI/CD, and containerization


• Strong Python software development skills


• Ability to use lightweight frameworks, reusable components, modern development tools, and AI-assisted development tools where appropriate


• Experience testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting production applications


• Ability to create clear, intuitive interfaces and visualizations


• Experience working directly with operational stakeholders


• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and document work


• Ability to independently move from loosely defined problems through implementation


• Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day


• Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; ability to stoop, bend, and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs


• Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device


• Regular attendance and punctuality required
