Expert Senior Manager Software Engineering

As Expert Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead strategy, architecture, development and deployment of production-scale software. You will mentor a diverse engineering team and align technical delivery with business strategy. You will shape client solutions by partnering with Bain teams, translating problems into product visions and roadmaps. You will drive end-to-end AI and software initiatives across complex engagements, enabling measurable business impact. This role offers the chance to work on modern architectures, security considerations, and platform modernization in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

• Lead strategy, architecture, development and deployment of software addressing complex problems
• Mentor and guide engineering teams throughout the full lifecycle
• Co-create client solutions via product visions, backlogs and roadmaps with cross-functional squads
• Oversee end-to-end solution delivery from problem framing to adoption and impact
• Ensure scalable, resilient, high-quality systems across engagements
• Direct cross-functional teams on architecture modernization, microservices, platform strategy and best practices
• Define and drive software engineering best practices across the lifecycle
• Develop reusable libraries and components to accelerate delivery
• Foster talent and inclusive culture; coach engineers across domains; support professional development
• Lead recruiting and onboarding for team members
• Travel as required by project needs

• 8+ years of hands-on software development, design patterns, deployment and testing
• 3+ years leading and managing software engineers
• Experience translating strategy into solutions and roadmaps with business stakeholders
• Track record in strategic initiatives in complex environments
• Experience with production-grade AI applications and data analytics products
• Expert knowledge of Python, JavaScript and additional languages
• Experience building server-side services with FastAPI, Node.js/Express, Flask, Django, .NET Core or Spring Boot
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep)
• Solid CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, testing, performance profiling
• Architecture design for modular, distributed, cloud-native systems; CI/CD, observability
• Knowledge of security, data privacy regulations, authentication/authorization
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes; platform engineering practices
• Experience with modern AI/ML development and LLM-related work is a plus
• Modern web technologies (React, Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript, HTML/CSS) are a plus
• Agile delivery mindset; Scrum/Kanban; Git workflows
• Professional fluency in English and German
