• Manages subordinate personnel by setting priorities, scheduling work, conducting performance appraisals, and handling basic grievances.
• Researches operational codes, drafts Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), prepares incident response plans, and acts as a project manager or Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
• Directs emergency responses independently as Incident Commander, requiring seamless tactical coordination with Host Nation (German) fire departments operating under different regulations.
• Leads first response (Operations Level) for Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction incidents, including risk assessment, hazard prediction, and mass decontamination operations.
• Operates alarm room communications, processes emergency calls, and performs crucial maintenance on firefighting apparatus, protective clothing, and facilities.
• Designs comprehensive fire protection, rescue, and first aid training programs, including organizing multi-agency live-fire exercises.
• Ensures training facilities meet regulatory standards, procures necessary training aids (e.g., salvaged cars, alarms), and maintains meticulous training records for all staff.

P-04:

• 2 years of specialized experience I as defined below
• Lead Firefighter / Crew Chief with completed training IAW applicable directives of the U.S. Stationing Forces and meets all requirements for P-01
• Fire Department personnel / dispatchers with Lower Secondary School certificate and completed training IAW applicable directives of the U.S. Stationing Forces with duty at a fire control center on an U.S. Army airfield.

Specialized Experience I:

Experience while in possession of the German certification as basic firefighter as an active and regular member of an organized city or volunteer fire department using motorized equipment or as a firefighter in a military or industrial establishment or in a comparable plant or institution using motorized equipment. Experience in a voluntary fire department must include regular attendance at training and instruction. Experience gained in inspecting for and detecting, controlling, and eliminating fire hazards; applying fire regulations and fire codes; writing descriptions of violations and corrective recommendations; and speaking to groups on fire prevention.

• Beard or sideburns in the area of the sealing lip of the respiratory mask are not permitted.
• The position requires successful completion of pre-employment medical examination for "Group 3 respiratory protective equipment" (formerly G26.3) in accordance with DGUV and ArbMedVV, and periodic examinations thereafter. The employing organization together with medical authorities will determine the types of examinations required, considering examination requirements stipulated in German labor law.
• The employee commits to perform physical work, including lifting, holding, and carrying loads (up to 25kg), as part of the duties.
• Driver's license class B required. Driver's license class C must be obtained at own expense within 24 months of employment. Otherwise, the employment relationship is terminated.
