Fluid Dynamics Engineer (m/f/d)

Mission Brief

As part of the Launch Vehicle Loads and Dynamics team, you will work and contribute across the team's broader aerodynamic, internal-fluid, and thermal analysis work. Your results feed loads definition, structural and flight dynamics as well as vehicle control and directly drive flight hardware design iterations.

Your Role in Our Space Mission

  • Perform steadystateandtransientexternalaerodynamicand internal flowanalyses using CFD and empirical/engineeringmethodsacrossthefull meshing/solution/post-processing workflow
  • Develop methodologiesforassessingunsteadyaerodynamicbehavior(e.g.buffeting, separation, recirculation),characterizingthe resultingbuffetand aero-acousticloadsand delivering data for vibroacoustic, loads, and controlanalysis
  • Analysis ofinternalflowphenomena relevant to launchvehicle loads (e.g.propellant management, propellant sloshing, thermal stratification)using CFD and empirical/engineering methods
  • Supportthermalcoupledloads analysisofthe launch vehicle and payload,maintenanceofthe launcher's thermal models and thermal control system design by providing analysis
  • Develop and improvetools and automation for simulation, data processing, and analysisworkflows
  • Contribute to the definition of test campaigns and flight instrumentation tovalidateand verifyanalysismodels and requirements

Qualification Checklist

  • Degree in the field of Aerospace of Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in aerodynamics,fluidorthermal analysisin the field of aerospace or launch vehicles
  • Experience with CFD and fluid/thermal simulation tools (e.g.StarCCM+,Simcenter, Thermal Desktop/ESATAN/Thermica)
  • Proficiencyin Python or MATLAB for automating pre- and post-processing workflows
  • Highly organized and proactive, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English
