Head of Commercial Property Insurance – Underwriting & Portfolio

• Strategic and operational management of a business unit within the commercial property insurance segment


• Conceptual development and market-oriented positioning of the business area


• Development of portfolio steering, underwriting guidelines and underwriting policies in line with corporate and divisional strategy


• Preparation of regular reports for executive management and deriving well-founded decisions based on relevant KPIs


• Planning and implementation of measures to increase revenue and profitability


• Organization, coordination and optimization of operational processes and managing the department against qualitative and quantitative KPIs


• Definition and consistent enforcement of the underwriting/acceptance policy for commercial property insurance


• Technical support for the sales team in complex customer and risk situations


• Maintenance and expansion of key large accounts and close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders


• Driving innovation, digitalization and transformation projects within the area of responsibility

Requirements

• Successfully completed degree in economics/business with a focus on insurance or equivalent qualification


• Several years of professional experience in commercial or industrial property insurance


• Solid understanding of underwriting, portfolio management/steering, acceptance policy and underwriting guidelines


• Leadership experience is an advantage; alternatively, demonstrable leadership potential and competence in managing change processes


• Knowledge of project management, ideally including experience with scaled agile frameworks


• Enthusiasm for innovation and a keen interest in digitalization and further development of existing business models


• Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as an entrepreneurial mindset


• Above-average commitment, strong organizational skills and a high result-orientation


• Confident manner, strong communication skills and the ability to effectively involve sales, business units and management


• Solution-oriented personality with a passion for shaping, responsibility and demanding change processes
