At our Bremen site, we specialize in the development of modern Combat Management Systems (CMS) for naval vessels.
As Head of Engineering (m/f/d) Naval , you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and development of the Engineering organization in Bremen. You will oversee workforce planning, capability development and resource management, ensuring that Engineering is positioned to deliver on ambitious business objectives. As a key interface between business and engineering functions, you will build strong stakeholder relationships, drive continuous improvement and shape a high-performing organization capable of delivering world-class solutions in a dynamic international environment.
Provide overall leadership of the Engineering organization in Bremen, ensuring the effective development, allocation and optimization of engineering capabilities, competencies and resources in support of business objectives.
Lead, inspire and develop Engineering managers and teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation and continuous professional growth.
Define and implement a strategic workforce and resource planning framework to ensure the organization is equipped to meet short-, medium- and long-term business and project demands.
Drive the continuous assessment of engineering capabilities, capacity and future talent requirements, translating insights into targeted actions and sustainable organizational improvements.
Build strong, trusted relationships with international business units, customers and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful collaboration across the organization.
Partner closely with Business, Product, Project and Engineering functions to align priorities, balance competing demands and maximize the effective use of available resources.
Establish and continuously enhance governance, planning and performance management processes, including the development of meaningful KPIs, reporting structures and executive dashboards to support informed decision-making.
Shape and drive workforce planning and talent acquisition activities, working closely with Human Resources to attract, develop and retain the capabilities required for future growth.
Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction and long-term success of the Naval Systems business.
Successfully completed degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science or a comparable qualification.
Several years of professional and leadership experience within an Engineering, Development, Project Management or Resource Management organization.
Experience in workforce planning, resource management, organizational development or engineering management.
Strong understanding of complex project, product development and service organizations as well as their resource requirements.
Experience in establishing and developing governance structures, KPIs, reporting processes and management dashboards.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex information transparently and support informed decision-making.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment.
Good German and English language skills, both written and spoken, are desirable.
Willingness to undertake occasional national and international business travel.
