Head of Production

Are you a production leader who enjoys building structure, developing people, and driving performance within a regulated manufacturing environment?

We're supporting a global manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Head of Department Production to lead a critical GMP-regulated operation responsible for manufacturing products supplied worldwide.

This is not a turnaround role.

The operation has strong technical expertise, committed teams, and a solid foundation. However, with continued growth planned, the business is looking for a leader who can bring greater structure, accountability, and consistency while helping prepare the department for the next stage of its evolution.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Production Director, you will take ownership of a department of approximately 30 employees across multiple production functions.

Leading through a team of Group Leaders, you'll be responsible for operational performance, people development, GMP compliance, strategic production planning, and continuous improvement across the department.

This role offers a rare balance of operational leadership and organisational development. You'll be expected to spend time both on the production floor and at a strategic level, helping shape the future direction of the department.

• Building greater structure and consistency across the department
• Developing and strengthening leadership capability within the Group Leader population
• Creating clear accountability, communication, and performance management processes
• Supporting future growth while maintaining high GMP standards
• Driving continuous improvement without disrupting a successful operation

What We're Looking For

• Leadership experience within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
• Experience leading through supervisors, team leaders, or group leaders
• Strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
• Candidates from biotechnology, food & beverage, or other highly regulated industries will also be considered
• Proven ability to improve processes, performance, and organisational structure
• Fluent German and strong English language skills
• A leadership style that combines clear direction with coaching and people development
