Intern - Cyber Actuarial Services and Data Analytics (m/f/d)*

As the "Corporate Underwriting Cyber" department, we support Munich Re Group's client-facing units with our multi-disciplinary cyber insurance expertise and facilitate writing profitable cyber insurance. We are accountable for the risk management function for our worldwide cyber business in reinsurance and primary insurance. This includes assessing accumulation potential, maintaining portfolio transparency, developing underwriting tools and standards, and driving projects on cyber innovation and investments.

We are looking for a passionate and engaged intern who supports our cyber actuarial services team. Among other things, the team builds and sets up proprietary applications designed to facilitate the risk-adequate underwriting of cyber risks. Cyber (re)insurance is one of Munich Re's strategic areas of growth.

Here is a brief overview of the internship:

  • Duration: at least 6 months (first 2 months full time, then 16 hours per week).
  • Start date: 1 July 2026.
  • Opportunity to work in an agile, international and multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Support us in building applications and working on complex topics in a DAX40 company.

Your Job

  • Understand the cyber underwriting process of Munich Re.
  • Develop a test concept geared towards fostering the reliability of our cyber underwriting tool.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and product owners to set up and document testing approaches and testing measures for a highly relevant application.
  • Use state‑of‑the‑art technology to set up automated testing routines.
  • Ad‑hoc testing of new features as they are being developed.
  • Take responsibility for specific programming tasks and support the tool development process.

Your Profile

  • University studies in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
  • At least one year of programming experience (e.g., JavaScript, Python) and web development; willingness to learn more.
  • Experience with automated, behaviour‑driven testing (BDT) of software is a plus.
  • Very good command of English and/or German. (Intermediate command of English is a must.)
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a focus on practical application.
  • Reliable mindset, comfortable communicating with contacts outside of the team.

Students from countries outside the EU must have a German residence / work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before or during the entire internship.
