As part of the Research Alliance Ruhr, the Research Center One Health Ruhr at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), located at the Essen campus, is seeking to appoint a

Laboratory Technician (f/m/d)

At the interface of human, animal, and environmental health, the Research Center One Health Ruhr integrates the disciplines of biology, chemistry, medicine, environmental sciences, and neuroscience under one interdisciplinary framework. The research group is part of both the Research Center One Health Ruhr and the Center of Medical Biotechnology (ZMB). The ZMB is an interdisciplinary research center at UDE that connects fundamental research in the Faculties of Biology and Chemistry with application-oriented medical research at University Medicine Essen.

You will support the newly established research group Biological and Genomic Treatment Approaches and actively contribute to its development and growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct ongoing research projects through hands-on experimental work in mammalian and/or yeast systems
  • Implement and optimize laboratory workflows and the establish new experimental procedures
  • Independently organize and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, stocks, and laboratory databases
  • Coordinate general laboratory organization and support onboarding and training of new lab members
  • Assist with ordering, inventory management, and general administrative laboratory tasks
  • Support teaching and practical training activities within the laboratory and the Faculty of Biology

Your Profile

  • Completed university degree in biology, chemistry, microbiology or completed vocational training (BTA, MTA, CTA) and equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent command of English and fluent written and spoken German
  • Experience in molecular, genetic, or biochemical analyses
  • Experience organizing and establishing laboratory operations, including standard operating protocols and safety procedures
  • Experience with laboratory management systems and digital workflows
  • Confident use of standard software applications and willingness to learn new tools
  • Strong communication and intercultural skills, combined with high motivation
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong commitment, and resilience
  • Independent, structured, and reliable working style
  • Flexibility and strong team spirit
  • Experience in an international working environment is an advantage
