Lead Accounting & Tax

Responsibilities

• Own the close. Lead the monthly and quarterly close and consolidation for all ME Group entities, and drive the transition from quarterly to monthly group consolidation.
• Prepare the annual financial statements (German GAAP / HGB) for all ME Group companies and manage the year‑end audit process.
• Work with external tax advisors and the Head of Finance to ensure tax compliance across the ME Group — including VAT registrations and ongoing VAT filings in multiple European countries as we expand internationally, and managing the corporate income tax group.
• Oversee corporate income and trade tax and basic transfer‑pricing matters, coordinate external tax advisors, and serve as the primary tax contact across the company.
• Provide actuals for group and bank reporting and support complex accounting topics.
• Help integrate accounting into our finance toolchain (SAP and connected systems) and leverage AI and automation to make the close faster and more reliable.
• Act as the main contact for auditors, tax advisors and intercompany matters across the group.

Requirements

• Degree in business administration, accounting or finance; qualification as a tax advisor (Steuerberater) or CPA (Wirtschaftsprüfer) is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience, ideally in a group accounting, audit or tax environment.
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax law, proven month‑end close and consolidation experience, and advanced Excel and ERP skills (SAP experience is a plus).
• Practical experience with VAT registration and indirect tax compliance across multiple European jurisdictions is a strong plus.
• Hands‑on, structured and reliable work style, with enthusiasm for using AI and automation to improve finance processes.
• Fluent in German and English, with the ability to explain financial topics clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
