The Team
Celonis Services is the delivery engine of the Celonis Customer Organization, responsible for turning the Celonis platform into measurable, business-critical outcomes for customers. Our deployments are AI-augmented and focus on value realization, adoption, and long-term success.
The Role
Lead Deployment Architect is the technical authority for strategic accounts within Celonis delivery. You shape how Celonis solutions are designed, architected, and delivered across a portfolio of strategic engagements. You define what good delivery looks like by setting architectural standards, designing end-to-end solution strategies, and ensuring AI-augmented and agentic workflows are deployed effectively at scale.
You operate at the intersection of platform expertise, domain knowledge, and customer strategy. You lead technical design reviews, present transformation roadmaps to C-suite stakeholders, and bridge pre-sales and post-sales to ensure promises can be delivered and often shaped.
This role carries significant organizational leverage. You define delivery patterns, orchestrate AI agents for multi-workstream engagements, and raise the bar for the practice in collaboration with Deployment Engineers.
The Work You’ll Do
- Support Services scoping in pre-sales, ensuring the right Services align with the Celonis solution architecture.
- Design end-to-end Celonis solution architectures for complex enterprise deployments across multiple process areas, business units, and geographies.
- Define the technical blueprint for Celonis platform integrations with customer systems, data strategies, and transformation goals.
- Design secure, scalable architectures tailored to complex enterprise requirements, optimizing for long-term usage growth and high concurrency.
- Make architectural trade-off decisions with clear customer-outcome rationale (build vs. configure, custom vs. standard, phased vs. big-bang).
- Own solution quality and outcome delivery across engagements, conducting design reviews and ensuring delivery teams follow architectural standards.
AI Orchestration & Delivery Innovation
- Design how AI deployment agents (Apollo) should be used across complex, multi-workstream engagements, defining agent workflows, validation checkpoints, and quality gates.
- Develop reusable specifications, templates, and patterns enabling Deployment Engineers to direct AI agents effectively.
- Pioneer new delivery approaches that leverage AI to compress timelines, improve quality, or unlock previously impractical use cases.
- Set standards for AI output validation to maintain quality as delivery accelerates.
Customer Strategy & Advisory
- Serve as the senior technical advisor to strategic customers, building trusted relationships with VP and C-level stakeholders.
- Translate customer business challenges into Celonis platform strategies, identify high-impact use cases, and define success metrics.
- Support pre-sales with technical credibility in complex deals, validate solution feasibility, and shape project scope.
- Guide customers through their Process Intelligence maturity journey, advising on platform expansion, AI readiness, and organizational change.
- Leverage Celonis experts to remove blockers in engagements and establish deep, technical advisor relationships with customer stakeholders to maintain expert-to-expert alignment during deployment.
Successful Implementation
- Collaborate with Deployment Engineers to implement complex and cutting-edge use cases for customers.
- Stay current with Celonis technologies and lead the implementation of early-stage products with close feedback to Product & Engineering.
- Review Solution(s) Blueprint to ensure quality, scalability, and production readiness of critical use cases.
Domain & Industry Depth
- Develop deep expertise in one or more process domains or industry verticals and translate domain knowledge into scalable solution patterns and reference architectures.
- Standardize high-value use cases in collaboration with Deployment Engineers and shape the platform roadmap with Product and Business Apps teams.
Practice Development
- Contribute to hiring by defining what great looks like for the Deployment job family, conducting interviews, and calibrating candidate assessments.
- Share knowledge through enablement sessions, documentation, and communities of practice; ensure alignment with Product & Engineering to feed customer insights into the roadmap.
What Distinguishes This Role from Deployment Engineer
- Scope: Works across multiple engagements and a portfolio/cluster/industry vertical (4+ concurrent clients).
- Influence & Practice Development: Sets standards for architecture, AI orchestration patterns, and delivery quality.
- Bridge: Spans pre-sales and post-sales to ensure continuity between what’s sold and what’s delivered.
- Force multiplier: Multiplies the effectiveness of Deployment Engineers rather than replacing them.
The Qualifications You Need
- Experience: 8+ years in technical consulting, solution architecture, or delivery leadership within enterprise software or SI firms. At least 3 years in a senior technical role with multi-stakeholder responsibility in large-scale projects at tier-1 organizations.
- Architecture skills: Proven ability to design complex, multi-component solutions spanning data integration, process intelligence, automation, and AI; deep understanding of enterprise architecture patterns.
- Platform mastery: Expert-level knowledge of the Celonis platform, including Process Intelligence Graph, data modeling, advanced PQL, automation/orchestration, and AI modules; ability to push the platform’s boundaries with Python.
- AI & agent orchestration: Experience designing AI-augmented delivery workflows and multi-agent system design; ability to define how AI should be used, not just used.
- Domain expertise: Deep knowledge in at least one major process domain or industry vertical; translate domain knowledge into patterns and credible advisory.
- Customer executive presence: Track record of building trusted advisor relationships with VP/C-level stakeholders and presenting transformation strategies with senior leadership.
- Consulting & communication: Excellent ability to translate between technical and business audiences; experience leading workshops and strategic reviews.
- Leadership & mentoring: Ability to raise team performance, mentor technical staff, and contribute to capability development.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management, or related field.
- Languages: Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
