About the Job

Greenjets is seekinga Lead Development Engineer with a strong background in aero-thermal engineering and practical experience working with electric powertrain components, including motors, batteries and motor controllers. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role, based in Germany, intended for an engineer who can take technical ownership of system development from early concept through to production.

Leading development activities across aerodynamics, thermal management and powertrain integration. Ensuring that performance, reliability and manufacturability are addressed in a coherent way. The role requires sound engineering judgement and the ability to balance competing requirements in an evolving development.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development of high-performance electric powertrain systems
  • Drive aero-thermal design, including cooling, airflow, and thermal robustness
  • Own system requirements and trade-offs across performance, efficiency, and cost
  • Use simulation and test data to make informed engineering decisions
  • Build and rapidly iterate prototypes based on real-world results
  • Integrate motors, batteries, and controllers into a seamless system
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams
  • Work closely with suppliers and customers to deliver production-ready solutions
  • Support testing, validation, and continuous design improvement
  • Help scale designs from prototype to full production

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in aero-thermal engineering, propulsion, or high-performance systems (aerospace, drones, motorsport)
  • Hands-on experience with electric powertrains (motors, batteries, controllers) at the system level
  • Experience developing drones or aircraft, with a solid grasp of integration challenges and rapid prototyping
  • Proven track record across the full lifecycle—from concept to production and customer delivery
  • Comfortable working directly with suppliers and customers, owning technical outcomes
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus (additional languages are a bonus)
  • Eligible to work with export-controlled technologies
  • A pragmatic, hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions in fast-moving environments

Location and Employment

Th is role is based in Munich - Germany, with regular trave l to the UK required to support development, integration and testing activities.
