Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

ENG Bauen is supporting a major international chemical operator on a large-scale, capital-intensive petrochemical construction programme in Germany, forming part of a long-term energy transition and circular economy investment. As the project moves through the critical commissioning and system turnover phase, instrumentation integrity, loop readiness, and verified control system functionality are essential to maintaining safe, structured progression into start-up.

We are seeking experienced, site-based Instrumentation Loop Testing Leads to drive execution of loop checking, instrumentation verification, and functional testing activities across process units, utilities, and offsite systems. This role sits at the core interface between Construction, Commissioning, Control Systems, and QA/QC teams, ensuring all instrumentation loops are fully tested, validated, and ready for handover into operational service.

You will be responsible for leading and coordinating loop checking activities across field instrumentation, control systems, and associated interfaces, ensuring all loops are tested in accordance with approved procedures, ITPs, and system handover requirements. This is a delivery‑critical site role requiring strong technical instrumentation knowledge, structured execution discipline, and the ability to drive closure across large, complex commissioning scopes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate instrumentation loop checking activities across process and utility systems.
• Verify field instrumentation installation, calibration, and functional readiness prior to commissioning.
• Execute and oversee loop folders, check sheets, and test documentation in line with project procedures.
• Interface with DCS/ICSS teams to support signal testing, cause & effect validation, and system integration.
• Coordinate with Construction, Electrical, and Commissioning teams to resolve punch items and readiness constraints.
• Ensure all instrumentation loops are fully tested, signed off, and correctly reflected in completions systems.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of loop, signal, and system integration issues during commissioning.
• Maintain accurate records of loop status, test progress, and turnover documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering background in Instrumentation, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in instrumentation commissioning, loop checking, or field execution roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience with loop checking, calibration verification, and field instrumentation systems.
• Experience working with DCS / ICSS systems and industrial control environments.
• Familiarity with commissioning workflows, ITPs, and system turnover processes.
• Strong site‑based execution mindset with ability to work in high‑pressure commissioning environments.
• English required; German advantageous.
