Lead Grid & Electrical Engineer

Our client is a well-funded renewable energy developer backed by long-term investment. The business is rapidly expanding its technical team as it progresses a substantial pipeline of utility-scale Solar PV and co-located Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across Germany.

With several gigawatts of projects under development and a significant volume expected to reach Ready-to-Build over the coming months, this is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation at an exciting stage of its development.

The Opportunity

Due to continued project growth, our client is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to establish and lead the in-house grid connection function. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for managing grid connection activities across a portfolio of utility-scale Solar PV and co-located BESS developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all grid connection activities across Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Lead communication with Distribution System Operators (DSOs), Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and other relevant grid authorities.
• Prepare and submit grid connection applications.
• Negotiate and manage grid connection agreements.
• Coordinate technical requirements throughout the connection process.
• Review and prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and electrical layouts.
• Support technical design decisions relating to substations and grid infrastructure.
• Work closely with Project Development, Engineering and EPC teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineering colleagues where required.
• Attend project and construction sites when necessary to support commissioning and delivery activities.
• Contribute to the continuous development of internal engineering standards and processes.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is likely to have experience within utility-scale renewable energy projects and possess strong knowledge of German grid connection processes.

You should have experience in:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience working with German grid operators and submitting grid connection applications and connection agreements.
• Strong understanding of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical system design and layouts.
• Hands-on and technically strong.
• Solutions-focused with a practical approach to engineering challenges.
• Entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a growing business.
• Native or fluent German language skills.
