Lead Java Backend Engineer (f/m/x) – Core Trading Technology

Position Overview

As a Lead Java Backend Engineer (f/m/x) you will be building high‑performance backend systems for electronic trading in a latency‑sensitive environment.

Our trading platform is recognised for its advanced architecture, low‑latency performance, and deep integration with market venues and internal analytics. The technology stack supports mission‑critical trading operations and is continuously evolving to meet the demands of a dynamic financial landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on business and functional requirements, technical analysis and design.
• Prototype new features, meet business needs and solve challenging technical problems.
• Contribute to the definition of the future state of the system architecture.
• Review other team members’ code and mentor junior developers; lead a sub‑team if required.
• Collaborate with QA on test automation and with DevOps on continuous SDLC and environment management improvements.

Skills and Experiences

• Good mathematical background and strong knowledge of algorithms and complexity.
• Excellent knowledge of core Java (collections, multi‑threading, networking) – 5+ years.
• Experience implementing fault‑tolerant / load‑balancing solutions, and performance optimisation of multi‑threaded Java applications.
• Good knowledge of Linux, basic knowledge of SQL relational databases, and good knowledge of messaging solutions.
• Good written and spoken English.
