To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support the required specialized experience.
Experience includes paid or unpaid work, such as volunteer service in National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. All qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, is credited.
The level of work involves frequent travel to foreign countries to perform required functions. Some physical exertion such as long periods of walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, and moderate lifting is required. At times, travel accommodations may be under tactical field conditions.
Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in DoD Instruction . If an employee brings a child to an overseas location entitled to a DoDEA school, the child will receive appropriate education services as specified in DoDI and DoDM . If an infant or toddler (up to 3 years) accompanies an employee overseas, they are entitled to DoDEA early intervention services. Employees and family members requiring medical or dental care overseas are responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space‑available and reimbursable basis only.
Information on overseas entitlements is available at U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Pay retention will be extended to eligible employees who apply through a formal recruitment program and are selected for a position at an overseas location.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
The Defense Logistics Agency is committed to maintaining a safe, drug‑free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre‑employment, reasonable suspicion, post‑accident, and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing‑designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs may result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer or removal from federal service.
