The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading international technology business operating across the energy and industrial infrastructure sectors in the appointment of a Managing Director - Europe.

This is a senior business leadership role with full responsibility for the European P&L, commercial strategy, organisational development and operational performance.

The role is focused on building a profitable, scalable European business, balancing growth with margin protection, cost discipline and long-term organisational strength.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider European commercial leadership team, while holding overall accountability for the European business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Full ownership of the European P&L, including revenue, margin, costs, working capital and cash conversion.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial performance across Europe.
• Define European market priorities and commercial strategy.
• Establish pricing, margin and commercial governance.
• Develop strategic partnerships and senior customer relationships.
• Lead the European organisation across non-sales functions.
• Shape organisational structure, senior hiring, performance management and succession.
• Drive operational efficiency across delivery, service, warranty and supply chain.
• Represent the European business at Group Executive and Board level.
• Translate Group strategy into effective European execution.
• Oversee the performance and governance of the European business entities.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an experienced commercial business leader with genuine full P&L ownership, ideally within an industrial, infrastructure, energy or technology-led environment.

• Senior commercial/business leadership experience with full P&L responsibility at country, regional or business-unit level.
• Proven track record of scaling revenue while improving or protecting profitability.
• Experience leading through senior managers and multi-functional leadership teams.
• Strong understanding of pricing, margins, contracts, service economics and working capital.
• Strong commercial judgement and financial discipline.
• German and English language proficiency.
• Willingness to be based in or relocate to the Frankfurt / Darmstadt area.
• Experience across energy, power electronics, infrastructure, industrial technology, renewables, electrification or energy storage.
• Direct BESS experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience with restructuring, M&A, integration or significant organisational change.
• Experience managing a German or European legal entity.
• Strong executive-level relationships with utilities, EPCs, developers and major industrial customers.
