Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an advanced engineering team working on high-precision systems for demanding, high-power applications. You will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from early concept development through to prototyping, validation, and production.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly technical, multidisciplinary environment focused on complex optical and mechanical integration challenges

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision opto‑mechanical assemblies and systems
• Work on high‑average power systems (>10 kW) operating in harsh or demanding environments
• Design and implement optical fibre mounting, alignment, and integration solutions
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, and technical documentation
• Perform FEM analysis to assess and validate thermal and mechanical performance
• Apply design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure robust and scalable designs
• Build, test, and iterate prototypes, supporting hands‑on experimental and validation work

Required Skills & Experience

• Background working with high‑power systems (>10 kW)
• Strong proficiency in CAD modelling, FEM, and mechanical analysis
• Experience with optical fibre mounting, alignment, and integration
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping, testing, and experimental setups
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and precision engineering
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
