Mechanical Engineer 3 – NSSS Vessels & Structures

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue.
• Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
• Interprets scope and project requirements.
• Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications.
• Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four‑year ABET accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of 6 years of full‑time relevant working experience is required.
• Direct experience with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages.
• Must have experience utilizing ANSYS to perform stress analysis in accordance with Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Subsections NB, NG, and/or NF.
• Additional experience in seismic/dynamic analysis is desired.
• Computer programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, Matlab, Python).
