Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC, Wyoming

This position will provide coverage in short‑term, surge and on‑demand situations arising from military needs such as post‑deployment events or to cover an existing assignment for counselors who are absent. The primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources. The counselor works closely with the installation and military branch points of contact to ensure the program is delivered within scope and meets the installation needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle (arrival at first duty station, pre‑ and post‑deployment, and major career events).
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web‑based chat, video, secure teleconference).
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information on trends and issues at the installation.
• Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree plus 4 years experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years experience may be considered).
• Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required.
• Obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
