PhD candidate / Research associate (f/m/d) for the synthesis and characterization of hydrogen b[...]

Stellenbeschreibung:

In the frame of the project, you will work on developing the next generation sustainable microporous crystalline photovoltaic and optoelectronic materials. The project is related to the synthesis of the designed organic thin films that are suitable for generating the next generation of photovoltaic and optoelectronic materials with optimized electrical ionic conductivities. Furthermore, this research addresses the formation of new generation of organic semiconductors that are stable enough to perform long term applications. The work involves synthesis, structural characterization, stability tests, thin film preparations, characterization of the surface areas of the thin films, electronic and ionic conductivities, and solar cell fabrication in collaboration with internal and external partners.

The position offers the possibility of a doctorate alongside your work.

Tasks

  • Synthesis of organic linker molecules
  • Synthesis of hydrogen bonded organic frameworks (HOFs)
  • Preparation of (HOF) thin films
  • Structural characterization using NMR, FT-IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction, PXRD, XPS
  • Characterization of materials including various techniques such as nitrogen physisorption, SEM, TEM, Raman, and XPS/Auger spectroscopy
  • Investigation of ionic and electrical conductivities
  • Investigation of gas storage properties
  • Cooperation with internal and external partners with different areas of responsibility and expertise

Profile

  • The candidate should have a Master degree in the field of Chemistry, Physics or related field
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research, a willingness to engage with chemistry and energy storage, and a creative mindset for new ideas
  • Experience in the synthesis of organic materials and organic synthesis skills are desirable
  • Prior experience with microporous materials is highly desirable
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills are required
