Platform Engineer / Owner (Cloud & Connectivity) (m/f/d)

As a Platform Engineer, you take end-to-end ownership of the foundation that accelerates our digital transformation. You don’t just build the platform – you own it. You define its direction, prioritize its evolution, and are accountable for the value it delivers to product teams. By providing a secure, scalable Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and modern cloud connectivity, you balance developer autonomy with operational excellence and strategic alignment.

Your Responsibilities

• Own & Evolve the Platform: Accountable owner of our Internal Developer Platform, defining its roadmap, prioritizing investments, and driving adoption. Use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure the platform is scalable, self‑service, and continuously improving.
• Cloud Architecture & Connectivity: Make key architectural decisions for our AWS‑based landscape and the integrations that connect it. Design and govern the “glue” – APIs, Event‑Driven Architectures – that enable secure, reliable data flow across systems. Ensure architectural decisions are well‑documented and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Reliability, Security & Governance: Responsible for the platform's reliability, observability (Monitoring/Logging), and security posture. Define and enforce standards, integrate compliance controls into platform workflows, and ensure that what ships meets the bar you set.
• Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely with Architecture, Engineering, Security, and leadership to align the platform strategy with business goals. Translate technical capabilities into business value, manage expectations across teams, and actively shape how the platform is perceived and adopted across the organization.
• Enable & Inspire Teams: Define “Golden Paths” in collaboration with architects and dev teams and drive their adoption. Act as a multiplier – your platform decisions and enablement work let dozens of engineers move faster and safer.

What You Bring

• Platform Ownership Mindset: Think in products, not projects. Take responsibility for outcomes, not just outputs. Care about adoption, developer experience, and the long‑term health of what you build.
• Cloud Native: Deep experience with public cloud (AWS preferred) and container ecosystems (Docker). Understand how to govern and scale them across teams.
• Automation First: Build platforms that eliminate toil for others. Proficient in IaC (Terraform) and CI/CD, designing with self‑service in mind.
• Connectivity & Integration: Strong understanding of APIs, integration patterns, and Event Streaming (e.g., Kafka). See the bigger picture of how systems connect and design accordingly.
• Coding Skills: Write scripts or tools (Python, Bash, Java, Node or similar) and review code critically – understand what your platform consumers are building.
• Communication & Influence: Translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders, advocate for platform investments, and align diverse teams around a shared direction.

Requisite Education And Experience

Significant professional experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevOps – ideally with exposure to product or platform ownership responsibilities.
Degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in agile environments, ideally working across multiple teams or as a technical lead.
