The Opportunity
Portfolio Strategists are responsible for promoting Fidelity’s portfolio construction capabilities through direct engagement with advisors across a dedicated sales region. Acting as trusted consultants, Portfolio Strategists deliver portfolio construction insights and support advisors in building solutions for their clients. This highly visible role combines investment expertise with relationship management and presentation skills to help advisors make more informed portfolio decisions.
Portfolio Strategists provide expertise regarding Fidelity’s product offerings, third-party products, industry trends, and competitor intelligence. They conduct portfolio consultations with advisors using Fidelity’s in-house portfolio analytics tool, Fidelity Portfolio Intelligence. This role works closely with Fidelity’s Portfolio Construction team and sales team to create and support clients’ open-architecture model portfolios.
What You’ll Do
Support advisor clients, Sales, and other internal partners with timely and relevant information
- Consult directly with advisors on the creation, implementation, and ongoing review of customized, open-architecture model portfolios, helping them align portfolio solutions with client objectives
- Conduct independent advisor meetings and accompany the sales team to lead portfolio construction discussions, deliver presentations, and provide consultative support to advisors
- This role requires some travel to support in-person advisor meetings, client events, industry conferences, and presentations across assigned regions
- Support sales team members on ad hoc queries for portfolio construction information and training on Fidelity Portfolio Intelligence
- Responsible for supporting Sales by providing insight and expertise in the development of portfolio analysis and construction.
- Build trusted relationships with advisors, sales partners, and internal stakeholders through ongoing engagement, responsiveness, and value-added portfolio insights that enhance client satisfaction and loyalty
Establish Fidelity Canada as an industry leader in portfolio construction
- Build, maintain, and communicate with expert level of knowledge on portfolio construction concepts
- Identify opportunities to develop and execute portfolio construction strategies that will maximize market penetration and increase customer loyalty
- Partner with Fidelity’s Portfolio Construction team to educate and promote Fidelity’s portfolio construction philosophy, process, performance, and competitive strengths
- Produce and support development of thought leadership and insights regarding portfolio construction
Contribute to asset allocation discussions and investment model portfolio strategy, oversight, and execution
- Partner with Portfolio Construction team, Sales, advisors, and prospects to contribute to the building of model portfolios
- Utilize investment tools and market research to discuss recommendations with advisors, including detailed analysis of risk, return, diversification, and portfolio positioning, in a clear and compelling manner
- Develop relationships with Fidelity’s Portfolio Construction team to deliver model portfolios to advisors that meet their needs and expectations
- Review products used within model portfolios to discuss notable changes with clients
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of investment market expertise
- Experience interacting directly with advisors, clients, or other investment professionals
- Demonstrated experience presenting investment solutions, portfolio recommendations, or market insights to financial advisors, clients, or other external audiences
- Completion of a university degree or equivalent work experience
- Completion of CFA/MBA/CAIA is an asset
- Canadian asset management or wealth management industry knowledge
- 3+ years of building or analyzing investment portfolios and an expert level of knowledge on portfolio construction concepts
