The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is the focus of the political process to address climate change. The UNFCCC secretariat supports the Convention, its Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement through a range of activities, including substantive and organizational support to meetings of the Parties and the implementation of commitments. It is a dynamic organization working in a politically challenging environment to help resolve one of the defining environmental issues of our time.
The position is located in the Financial Resources Management Unit, which is part of the Administrative Services (AS) subdivision, Administrative Services Division, Operation Department, and reports to the Chief of Financial Resources Management Unit (P-5). The incumbent will work closely with the Team Leads of the Budget and Finance Units.
The focus of the work will be on financial resources management activities including the preparatory work:
Required: Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field from an accredited academic institution. A first-level university degree in combination with additional two qualifying years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Professional certification as chartered accountant (CA) or certified public accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be a distinct advantage.
Required: At least five years of progressively responsible job-related experience in finance, budget, business administration or related area.
Experience in programme budgeting, preparation of official documents or budgetary analysis in an international or intergovernmental context is highly desirable. Experience in data analytics skills for information management, data analysis and visualization, dashboard creation and report development is also highly desirable.
Required: Proficiency in English (both oral and written) is required.
Advantage: Knowledge of another UN official language.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview. The above listed set of competencies will be applied for this particular post.
Indicative net annual salary and allowances: US$ 71,335
