Research fellow (m/f/d) in project GAIN

Responsibilities

• scientific service in research with the Gravimetric Atom-Interferometer (GAIN)
• prepare, optimize and use GAIN for comparison measurement campaigns
• improve GAIN by implementing new technologies which also enable new measurement modes and gravity gradiometer functionality
• work closely with postdoctoral fellows, other doctoral candidates and Masters students
• interact intensively with academic, institutional and industrial collaboration partners
• present research results in international journals and conferences
• tasks for personal scientific qualification (doctorate)

Qualifications

• completed scientific university education (Masters degree) in physics (or related field with appropriate specialization in physics/optics/quantum optics/laser physics)
• English language skills (B2, demonstrated by a certificate or writing sample included in the application materials and a speech sample during the interview)
• good team spirit and ability to work effectively in a collaboration

Technical Skills and Experience

• practical experience with ultra-cold atoms/molecules and/or atom interferometry
• expertise in the development and/or characterization of laser systems for laser cooling or precision measurement applications
• programming skills (preferably Python), databases, data visualisation, and version control
• general laboratory skills (especially: optics, opto- mechanics, opto-electronics, RF-electronics)
• good knowledge of analog and digital electronics
• experience in computer aided design (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
• language skills in German and French (no minimum level required)
