Job description and company information for Satellite Ground System Engineer (d/m/f) with focus on Mission Control for national space projects within Airbus Space Engineering, Friedrichshafen, Germany. Core aim is to contribute to Space & Ground Systems Architectures, Secure Space Solutions, Systems Engineering, Development, Operations, Data Processing, and Performance Modelling.
Responsibilities
- Definition and design of Satellite Ground Systems using state-of-the-art methods (Scrum, Model-Based Systems Engineering)
- Requirements analysis and architecture definition for Ground Segments related to satellite monitoring and control, interfaces to ground stations, and mission planning systems
- Design trade-offs and interface management: evaluate design decisions, identify internal and external interfaces, create interface documents (ICD)
- Specification of hardware and software elements as well as redundancy concepts
- Definition of ground segment operating concepts and training of satellite operators
- Cost estimates for Ground Segment development and operation
- Support in system development, AIV (assembly, integration, verification)
- Contributions to proposals and studies as well as research and development activities
- Technical management for the procurement of software components
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: Space Segment Engineering, Performance Engineering, Operations Engineering
Qualifications (English)
- Education and professional experience: completed university degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Communications (Network), or equivalent qualification; more than 5 years of professional experience
- Technical expertise: knowledge of and practical experience with space industry processes and standards (e.g., ECSS, CCSDS); experience in systems engineering and related methods/tools
- Adaptability and willingness to learn: ability to quickly familiarize with new technologies
- Project experience: experience on classified projects (advantage), experience in managing technical stakeholders (advantage)
- Soft Skills: good communication and presentation skills, team-oriented work style
- Language Skills: fluent German and English; French is a plus

- Abgeschlossenes Studium im Bereich Luft- und Raumfahrt, Informatik, Computer Communications (Network) oder vergleichbare Qualifikation; mehr als 5 Jahre Berufserfahrung
- Fachliche Expertise: Kenntnisse und praktische Erfahrung in Prozessen/Standards der Raumfahrt (z.B. ECSS, CCSDS); System Engineering mit entsprechenden Methoden und Tools
- Anpassungsfähigkeit und Lernbereitschaft
- Projekterfahrung: vorteilhaft bei klassifizierten Projekten; Erfahrung im Stakeholder-Management
- Soft Skills: Gute Kommunikations- und Präsentationsfähigkeiten; teamorientierte Arbeitsweise
- Sprachkenntnisse: fließendes Deutsch und Englisch; Französisch von Vorteil
