Security Automation Engineer (m/f/d) – Salary Included

In this role you help Covestro shape proactive cybersecurity by integrating AI and automation into secure development. You will embed Security by Design across software teams and design scalable cloud security controls. You’ll build and operate agentic security solutions for patching, remediation, and safe shutdown, while advancing attack surface scanning with AI. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that combines technical depth with strategic impact in a global IT Security team.

• Design, implement, and operate agentic security solutions for automated patching, vulnerability remediation, and controlled shutdown processes
• Build and improve external attack surface scanning using AI, LLMs, and scanner data
• Develop AI-driven review logic for firewall analysis, anomaly detection, and cloud policy compliance
• Advise software teams on secure coding, threat modeling, and Security by Design throughout the SDLC
• Co-design and review agentic coding templates with internal and external development partners

• Degree in computer science, IT security, or related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Strong software development background (Python, automation, low-level programming) plus IT security (penetration testing, red teaming, security automation)
• Experience with AI automation in security and design of security controls for cloud-native and containerized workloads
• Solid DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security integration
• Experience collaborating with Security Operations and Cyber Defense teams (monitoring, detection engineering, incident response)
• Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages welcome
