Senior Area Sales Manager DACH - EMEA Cleanroom

The Senior Area Sales Manager (SASM) is responsible for own territory and potential reports. The SASM demonstrates leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of the Cleanroom market, including distribution channels. The SASM aligns field activities within their territory to meet corporate goals and strategic business objectives for sales growth, expanding market presence, and fostering a high-performance team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Together with Sales Director, develop and implement sales strategies that have been agreed to meet or exceed sales targets according to business unit objectives. Identifies and pursues new opportunities while nurturing existing business. This is done closely with Distributors in the territory.
• Support by recruitment. Trains, and mentors sales associates while managing a designated territory.
• Communicates clear sales targets and performance expectations for potential direct reports. Conducts regular performance reviews, provides constructive feedback, and supports professional development by using objective data, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system records.
• Ensures that the needs and perspectives of the field team are effectively communicated to management and corporate leadership by sharing insights, challenges, and feedback.
• Relays corporate updates, policies, and strategic directives to the field team as needed.
• Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with customers and distributor partners. Works closely to understand their needs and aligns actions accordingly.
• Maintains a deep understanding of the Cleanroom product line and effectively communicates product benefits and features to customers.
• Travels frequently within individual and extended territories to meet with customers and conduct sales presentations. Manages travel logistics effectively, including scheduling and coordination of meetings and events.
• Prepares and delivers compelling sales presentations and product demonstrations to end-user customers, distributor partners, and key stakeholders. Utilizes sales and marketing tools (e.g., Highspot) to craft customer‑centric content.
• Gathers market information within the sales territory to identify trends, assess the competitive landscape, and understand customer needs. Shares verbal and written insights with management and key support teams (i.e., Product Management, Marketing, Research & Development, and Technical Services).
• Provides exceptional support to end‑user customers and distributor partners. Addresses issues or concerns promptly and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Utilizes CRM system to maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions. Prepares and submits regular reports on sales performance and market trends.
• Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (when applicable)

The SASM manages potential direct reports in the Cleanroom sales organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA. or BS.) from a four-year accredited college or university; or 5-10 years of industry‑related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements (i.e., EPA, FDA, ISO) is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the ability to learn and become proficient in Contec’s CRM system (C2, next year Dynamics) is required.
• Previous experience working within Cleanroom, or another regulated industry, is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience managing direct reports is strongly preferred.
• Experience working within CRM systems is strongly preferred.

German (Native) and English (C2) are mandatory.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from technical data sets. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and manage variables where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Associates performing the duties of this job are regularly in office settings, either at home or at customers’ facilities where the noise level is quiet to moderate. Occasionally, the associate may be exposed to a manufacturing environment while working at a customer site where the noise level may be moderate to loud. In this environment, the associate may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and may be required to don personal protective equipment (PPE) per site protocols.

Business travel, including overnight travel, is required, majority is planned by SASM and some by the company.
