Senior Creative Director, Marketing | Bankrate

Remote or hybrid candidates welcome (East Coast preference), with hybrid being central to our New York, NY or Charlotte area offices. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

This is a new role and the founding seat of Bankrate’s Marketing Creative pod — focusing on AI-native creative leadership that combines sharp creative judgment with deep AI fluency to drive revenue and elevate the brand through scalable, channel-native creative. You will set the standard for what good looks like visually and verbally, and build AI tooling and workflows to deliver at volume and velocity. You will own the full arc: the judgment that enables shipping, the systems that ship quickly, and the results that tie to revenue and brand lift.

What You’ll Do

• AI-Powered Marketing Production: Build and run Bankrate’s marketing production pipeline — tooling and workflows that turn concepts into a library of on-brand, channel-native variants ready to test, freeing your team to focus on judgment calls instead of repetitive production.
• Rapid Testing → Revenue: Use high-volume testing across channels, let data determine winners, and tie creative output to pipeline and revenue. Speed of learning is the goal.
• Taste & the Creative Standard: Define what “great” looks like across paid, lifecycle, organic social, and brand, and maintain that bar whether assets are created by people or models. Your judgment gates all outputs.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Be the connective tissue between the Head of Design, Head of Performance Marketing, Director of Brand, and Product Marketing Lead.
• Team & Vendor Building: Build a small team and manage freelancers or agencies that provide capacity, all powered by the AI systems you implement.

What We’re Looking For

• AI-native, human-led: Proficient with modern AI creative and copy tools, building repeatable workflows. Fluency is leverage; human judgment remains essential.
• Strategic discernment & good judgment: Can identify which versions are worth testing and explain why, across formats and disciplines.
• Team builder: Experience hiring, coaching, and getting the best from creative talent, building a small, judgment-led team that leverages AI systems.
• Art direction + copywriting range: Strong in either art direction or copywriting with working fluency in the other; able to direct or execute across both roles.
• Revenue + brand fluency: Comfortable pulling data, briefs, and campaign plans into a cohesive creative direction that drives revenue while protecting the brand.
• Velocity mindset: Ship, test, and learn; favor a few strong variants backed by real performance data.
• Strong communicator: Able to explain creative rationale, handle feedback, and push back on briefs when appropriate.

Compensation

This range reflects total cash compensation and may include base salary and target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.

• Total Cash Compensation Range: $175,000 – $225,000 per year
