Overview

Responsibilities

• Independent financial accounting and day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts receivable and accounts payable, invoices, and bank transactions.
• Management of AR/AP mailboxes and proactive resolution of inquiries from customers and suppliers.
• Control of company expenses using the global expense management tool Payhawk.
• Reconciliation, clarification, and monitoring of open items; ownership of month-end close.
• Preparation of statutory monthly filings, including VAT returns and required statistics/trade reporting.
• Recording and posting of fixed assets; posting of recurring, prepaid, and deferred items (accruals).
• Preparation of monthly analyses and handling of ad-hoc requests; preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Independent preparation of single-entity statutory financial statements under local GAAP (HGB), including notes and management report.
• Preparation and commentary of closing documents for internal and external recipients.
• Assessment and accounting treatment of complex transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Support on tax matters and collaboration with external tax advisors and the group tax function.
• Year-end close activities and audits; central point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities; compilation of vouchers and documentation for audit requests.
• Development of analyses, documentation, and position papers on accounting and tax matters; technical guidance for colleagues.

Qualifications

• recognised accounting qualification at certified accountant level (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter/IHK) or comparable; tax-specialist background and equivalent experience in financial statements also welcome.
• Several years of professional accounting experience, ideally in an international environment, with demonstrated ability to prepare single-entity financial statements and notes with management report.
• Strong knowledge of local statutory accounting (German GAAP/HGB); basic understanding of tax matters (corporate tax, trade tax, withholding tax, interest-deduction limitation rules).
• Initial experience with IFRS is an advantage.
• Fluent German (minimum B2) and English (written and spoken).
• Very good Datev skills; knowledge of additional accounting or ERP systems is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook); strong understanding of financial processes and ability to integrate different systems.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills; independent, proactive, service-oriented work style with high quality standards and attention to detail.
• Motivation for professional growth and willingness to work on-site 4 days per week (1 remote day).
