(Senior) IoT Cloud Engineer (m/f/d)

You join the Platform team to own and evolve the cloud side of a large-scale IoT platform that connects thousands of distributed devices. You’ll ensure a reliable, secure, and cost-efficient gateway-to-cloud data highway as the fleet grows. You work with cross-functional teams to ship features quickly and gain data-driven visibility on fleet health. • Own systems at the intersection of Cloud Services and residential IoT Gateways
• Operate and scale Kubernetes-based IoT Cloud Platform, including deployment and hardening of connectivity and fleet services
• Develop and run Eclipse Hono as messaging backbone between gateways and cloud
• Design and build fleet management features for gateway lifecycle
• Integrate with Mender for safe OTA rollouts
• Contribute to load and resilience tests to prove scalability
• Build observability pipelines and turn metrics into monitors and self-healing
• Build data pipelines and BI models for fleet insights
• Collaborate with product managers, data and IoT engineers, and cloud engineers to enable scalable VPP
• Foster a culture of experiment-driven innovation

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Software Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years in cloud/distributed backend systems in production
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes (ideally GKE) and cloud-native operations
• Solid understanding of MQTT and device-to-cloud messaging at scale
• Experience designing and running observability pipelines for large-scale systems
• Comfortable with SQL, data modeling, and dashboards
• Experience with CI/CD, IaC, and platform engineering practices
• Reliability and security mindset
• Ability to guide architectural decisions across embedded, hardware, data, and product teams
• Agile, product-oriented mindset and strong teamwork with ownership
