Area of responsibility
In the joint data center of the German Pension Insurance, we operate highly critical database systems for millions of insured individuals. The Database Management department is responsible for the database landscape of the German Pension Insurance data center (RZ DRV). Our Database Transition team is responsible for planning and designing the Oracle database landscape for all pension insurance providers.
As a central component of the IT architecture, we play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of pension and rehabilitation cases. We look forward to welcoming a new colleague to our team in Berlin.

As a Senior Oracle Administrator in the Database Management department, you will play a central role in the further development of our Oracle database platform. In this role, you will actively shape the database architecture and future-proof one of the largest IT systems in Germany’s public sector.

• With your experience and expertise, you will design and develop the target architecture of our Oracle database platform and drive its strategic advancement
• You will define and continuously refine technical standards for performance, scalability, and security
• Your responsibilities also include planning migrations and the modernization of our Oracle database landscape
• You will serve as an internal consultant for related development and infrastructure teams on architectural issues and assist in the implementation of viable solutions
• As an experienced subject matter expert, you will actively participate in strategic, long-term architectural decisions
• You enjoy sharing your knowledge with the team and contribute to the professional development of the department

• You hold a university degree (diploma, master’s, or equivalent) preferably in IT, or an equivalent qualification based on demonstrable equivalent skills and experience
• Several years of relevant experience in the operation and/or design of Oracle database systems
• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the design and further development of database architectures or platform design in complex IT environments
• Strong knowledge in the areas of high availability, performance optimization, and scaling of database systems
• Experience with Oracle Exadata or comparable engineered systems is a plus
• Strong knowledge of Linux-based systems and, ideally, experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
• Interest in topics such as IT security, data encryption, and compliance
• Knowledge of relevant IT security standards (e.g., BSI Grundschutz, ISOis desirable
• You have a structured, analytical approach to work and the ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way
