Senior PLC Developer (m/f/d)

In this role you will develop and maintain PLC software using B&R Automation Studio to meet demanding automation requirements. You will own automation projects, work with cross-functional teams, and ensure regulatory alignment through IEC 62304 processes. You will mentor junior programmers, and, when needed, serve as Scrum Master to keep delivery on track. This position combines hands-on engineering with close customer collaboration and modern CI/CD practices to drive robust, compliant automation solutions.

• Develop clean PLC software with B&R Automation Studio
• Analyze requirements and design robust automation solutions
• Create documentation and perform testing/verification
• Take technical ownership and coordinate project delivery
• Mentor junior PLC programmers
• Act as Scrum Master when required
• Apply IEC 62304 across lifecycle phases
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams
• Manage requirements, specs, and tests in codeBeamer with traceability
• Establish Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated PLC testing (Python/C#)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Extensive hands-on experience in industrial automation and PLC programming
• Proven expertise in B&R Automation Studio and deployment in industrial environments
• Strong programming skills in Structured Text, OO programming, Python, and C#
• Experience with real-time PLC applications, fieldbus and industrial communication systems
• Hands-on experience with Git, version control, and CI/CD workflows
• Ability to work as SME within Agile teams and own complex technical challenges
• Knowledge of software development in regulated environments; ideally medical device or healthcare
• Experience with IEC 62304, codeBeamer, requirements/test management and traceability (advantage)
• Excellent English communication; willingness to work on-site; German as asset
