(Senior) Project Engineer - Surgical Navigation Platforms

Overview

In this role you will take technical ownership of the development of Brainlab’s surgical navigation platform within a regulated medical-device environment. You will lead cross-disciplinary efforts with hardware, software, quality, and external partners, guiding from concept to certified product. You’ll drive requirements engineering, architecture reviews, verification, and documentation to ensure safety and performance. You’ll operate at the intersection of platform development and regulatory compliance to enable impactful medical technology in clinical settings.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Provide technical leadership and drive decisions with expert input
  • Translate stakeholder input into compliant system, software, and hardware requirements
  • Define and review multi-disciplinary concepts and architectures (systems, software, electronics, mechanics)
  • Coordinate internal and external development activities, including suppliers and test houses
  • Plan prototype builds, component qualification, and design iterations
  • Lead verification activities, coordinate root-cause analysis, and drive fixes to specification
  • Contribute to development documentation per regulations and standards
  • Act as technical interface between hardware, software, quality, and project management
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • University degree in a technical field (medical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, software engineering, physics, or similar)
  • Several years of experience in medical device or regulated product development
  • Strong system-level thinking and interdisciplinary development experience
  • Experience in cross-functional project work
  • Ability to discuss details with engineers and align with management on goals
  • Experience with development documentation and verification in regulated environments
  • Excellent English and German communication skills
