Senior Researcher in Embedded Research for SAP Autonomous Suite / CX (f/m/d)

In this role you bridge data science and engineering to turn development data into actionable insights, accelerating team flow and predictability across SAP Commerce release cycles. You collaborate with academics, researchers, and business stakeholders to influence product directions and scale innovation. You’ll design a cross-SAP metrics framework, pilot AI-assisted planning tooling, and help translate research findings into practical engineering improvements. This is a research-driven, cross-functional role with a clear impact on delivery and customer satisfaction.

• Design and maintain a Commerce-wide engineering metrics framework to monitor delivery health
• Review metrics health at team, product, and portfolio levels to surface bottlenecks and risks
• Embed retrospective learnings into process standards for continuous improvement
• Pilot AI-assisted tooling to improve planning accuracy and workflow automation
• Share engineering excellence practices to accelerate adoption of predictable delivery patterns
• Bridge academia and industry by participating in interdisciplinary research activities
• Mentor and participate in SAP’s research community and partnerships
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science or Information Systems
• Research background with publications in innovation and software development models
• Proven track record of applied industry-academic research related to agile contexts
• Experience leading research projects and delivering data-driven recommendations
• Hands-on skills in data analysis, LLM and AI-assisted prototyping, engineering telemetry (e.g., Jira)
• Programming skills in Python, Java, or JavaScript
• Experience managing industry-academic partnerships and multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Ability to work on challenging research topics with a structured approach
• Understanding of SAP product strategy and Autonomous Enterprise
• Experience integrating AI assistants in workflows and QA
