Senior Vehicle Test Engineer (all genders) – Autonomous Driving
Join us as a Senior Vehicle Test Engineer – Autonomous Driving (all genders) and help bring autonomous mobility and transport solutions for the cities of tomorrow to life.
As part of the Test Engineering Team you will focus on testing self‑driving software and vehicle platforms for Mobility‑as‑a‑Service (MaaS) and Transportation‑as‑a‑Service (TaaS) use cases as well as real‑world deployments.
At our state‑of‑the‑art Proving Ground at Munich Airport we plan, conduct, and analyse testing activities on a daily basis in close collaboration with multiple testing environments across MOIA. In doing so we play a key role in advancing the development of autonomous solutions at scale. As a key driver of the Volkswagen Group’s mobility initiatives, our work contributes significantly to shaping the Group’s future success.
What you will do
- Design and own vehicle system‑level test cases for a Level 4 autonomous driving system.
- Collaborate with Function Owners, V&V, and SOTIF teams to validate system behaviour.
- Define and execute test strategies for new software releases and platform integrations.
- Support in‑vehicle system‑level troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and scalable testing processes.
- Develop automation and tooling to accelerate testing.
- Contribute to bringing autonomous mobility safely to public roads.
What will help you to fulfil the role
- A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience with or good understanding of Level 4 autonomous driving systems.
- Strong understanding of autonomous driving system stacks.
- Experience with automotive debugging tools and communication protocols (e.g., Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, Wireshark, oscilloscope).
- Hands‑on experience with requirements management and bug‑tracking tools.
- Solid Linux knowledge (nice to have).
- A proactive team player with a strong sense of ownership.
- Business‑fluent English skills.
