What you'll do

SEO Role in Reducing Reoffending Statistics team

The Reducing Reoffending Statistics team is responsible for processing, analysing, and publishing data on our key reoffending datasets, as well as offering analytical insight to Ministers, policy colleagues and external customers. Reducing reoffending is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Justice, and the statistics that analysts in this team produce are an essential part of this programme. These statistics also facilitate policy decisions on a whole range of other topics, both across MoJ and externally, for example, including the impact of women in the Criminal Justice system and the development of drugs policy at the Home Office.

The main activities and responsibilities of the jobholder are:

• Delivering, as part of the team, the quarterly Proven Reoffending Accredited Official Statistics publication in line with the Code of Practice for Statistics and tailored to meet intended purposes.
• Using the Police National Computer to extract reoffending data to produce timely analytical products for PQ/FOI responses, or ad-hoc requests, ensuring the data is fit-for-purpose, and the relevant caveats are communicated, while maintaining high quality data assurance processes.
• Develop detailed subject knowledge to lead high-quality conversations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead on an analytical project that feeds into the future reducing reoffending strategy, providing robust analysis and advice to support a range of stakeholders.
• Support essential data pipeline updates and development of automated processes to ensure accurate reporting of Accredited Official Statistics and to fully maximise modern data processing techniques.
• Apply statistical and data visualisation techniques to improve analytical outputs and convey complex ideas.
