Server Hardware Specialist Engineer.

As Hardware Specialist you will manage hardware lifecycle processes and coordinate with vendors to optimize IT lab operations. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure accurate hardware documentation and up-to-date configurations. The role focuses on preserving inventory quality, validating new hardware, and maintaining clear technical communications. You will contribute to reliable data center and lab performance while driving efficient hardware management aligned with BMW’s standards. This position offers hands-on impact in a global automotive IT environment.

• Coordinate with hardware vendors and customers; act as central contact for Windows and Linux hardware topics toward vendors
• Support evaluation of new hardware and components with lifecycle considerations
• Utilize vendor-specific monitoring, reporting and maintenance tools
• Participate in recurring technical and operational meetings and manage vendor support tickets
• Provide regular status updates and maintain technical documentation
• Ensure hardware inventory quality in LAB and production environments
• Support lab setup, testing scenarios, and POC environments
• Maintain compliance with data center standards and procedures
• Review and document hardware release notes; document new server hardware or variants
• Quality assure inventory documentation for server hardware in CMDB; create and maintain server models across tools
• Document test scenarios, results, and installation procedures; prepare technical reports
• Create Jira stories/tasks for hardware activities and track open issues; ensure tasks meet SLA
• Handle escalations and communication with vendors and clients

• Strong understanding of hardware technologies and server infrastructure
• Good understanding of firmware, BIOS and driver lifecycle management
• Experience with inventory/documentation tools (e.g., CMDB)
• Ability to work closely with vendors and customers
• Understanding of LAB environment testing and validation
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Proficiency in German language
• Strong vendor and client communication skills
• Experience handling vendor tickets and escalations
