Software Release Manager

Software Release Manager | AUG Contract | Kiel | 24 months | Up to €100,000 p.a. (negotiable)

Naval communication software. You own the release — from baseline lock and build integrity through to formal Bundeswehr delivery.

A world‑leading defence and technology organisation in Kiel develops and maintains communication systems for the German Navy. The software that runs on these systems is subject to formal release processes, strict configuration management, and structured customer acceptance by the Bundeswehr. This role owns that process end to end — from coordinating engineering teams around release schedules through to signing off the final delivery documentation.

This is not a release management role at a fast‑moving software company. The pace is structured, the documentation standards are high, and delivery milestones are tied to defence programme commitments. If you have genuine release or configuration management experience in a regulated or programme environment, this role is worth your time.

The Role

• Own the end‑to‑end release process for naval communication software across all product versions
• Define and maintain release schedules aligned with programme milestones and Bundeswehr delivery dates
• Coordinate software baseline control and configuration management across engineering teams
• Manage build integrity, release notes, and change documentation for each product version
• Lead formal customer acceptance processes for Bundeswehr software delivery handover
• Drive continuous improvement across the release and configuration management lifecycle
• Proven background in software release management, configuration management, or a comparable discipline
• Hands‑on CI/CD experience — you have configured and managed pipelines yourself, not just tracked them
• Experience coordinating releases across multiple engineering teams in a structured environment
• Familiarity with change control, baseline management, and formal release documentation
• Strong stakeholder and programme‑level communication skills
• German C1+ — hard requirement for this role; English required
