Space Engineer (Space Industry)

Stellenbeschreibung:

Infinite Orbits GmbH is the German subsidiary of Infinite Orbits SAS (Toulouse, France), a NewSpace company founded in 2017 that now counts more than 200 colleagues across locations including Luxembourg and the UK.

We develop in-orbit servicing solutions - from awareness, inspection, and protection of space assets to life extension and satellite servicing - built on our own autonomous Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) technology.

Our core product, Orbit Guard, is an in-space hardware solution with GEO heritage, and LEO capability currently in development.

Building our Munich site marks Infinite Orbits' expansion into the German and European defense and space market, establishing a dedicated local team for business development, R&D, product development, project execution, production, and operations.

About the Role

As Mission Systems Engineer , you own mission analysis and systems engineering for Infinite Orbits Germany's customer proposals and won contracts, across the full end-to-end system — space segment, ground segment, launcher, and user segment. Working alongside the Chief Engineer on overall system architecture, you take independent ownership of sizing, feasibility, and technical trade-off work — turning customer requirements into concrete, defensible mission designs across the full system. You also play an active role in sales and business development, providing the technical depth that turns early customer conversations into qualified opportunities, and work closely with the Toulouse engineering team and other Group entities to bring proven product and technology solutions into the German market. This is a founding technical role with direct ownership of the analysis that underpins every German proposal and delivery.

Job Description

Mission analysis ownership: Own sizing, feasibility, and trade-off analysis for RPO and in-orbit servicing mission concepts, across space segment, ground segment, launcher, and user segment considerations.

End-to-end system ownership: Ensure technical coherence and integration across space segment, ground segment, launcher, and user segment solutions for German customer projects.

Sales & business development support: Provide technical input into early customer conversations, capability presentations, and qualification of new business opportunities, working closely with Business Development.

Technical proposal ownership: Lead the technical analysis and content for proposals, RFI/RFP responses, and funding applications, in coordination with the Chief Engineer.

System design & verification: Own systems engineering deliverables — requirements definition, design trade-offs, and verification planning — across the full system.

Subcontractor technical support: Support technical oversight of subcontractors and external partners on assigned workstreams, ensuring deliverables meet mission and system requirements.

Stakeholder material ownership: Develop technical content for briefings, presentations, and customer- and partner-facing documents.

Group coordination: Liaise with Engineering in Toulouse and other Group entities to align on technical consistency and leverage existing product and technology solutions from across the Infinite Orbits Group.

Project execution ownership: Own technical execution workstreams on won contracts, ensuring delivery against mission and contractual requirements.
