We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Metadata team, which owns the metadata layer of the dbt platform, including the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services. This role involves shaping the technical direction of the team, leading complex projects, and ensuring high-quality design and code across the team. You will design and own subsystems, drive technical initiatives, and mentor engineers while contributing to the reliability and performance of critical systems.The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in distributed, cloud-based systems and a track record of leading team-scope technical work. Proficiency in Python, GraphQL, Postgres, Snowflake, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and GCP is required. Experience with AI tooling, test-driven development, and analytics engineering workflows is a plus. The position is fully remote, with a compensation range of $162,157.50–$198,877.25 USD.
