Senior Consultant – Structure Design Engineer

Location: Hamburg, Germany • Business Unit: GERENG • Compensation: Competitive (including bonus)

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive wing engineering support as part of the overall wing design organization.
• Provide reactive support for A400M daily in-service repairs ensuring adherence to aeroplane Design Organization Approval (DOA) requirements and export control regulations.
• Manage modification processes through Decision Gates (DG) including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
• Collaborate closely with offshore engineering team and cross‑functional teams (stress, manufacturing, quality, configuration management, etc.) to ensure clear technical communication, timely guidance and smooth execution of deliverables.
• Lead and support the structural design and development of primary aerospace wing components in accordance with relevant processes, methods and standards.
• Understand aerospace design principles, airworthiness constraints and manufacturing processes.
• Review and validate design outputs such as 3D models, 2D drawings and Bill of Materials to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Provide technical expertise on structures, materials, stress sizing, manufacturing considerations and certification constraints.
• Support other general design activities including process improvements and cost reduction.
• Drive issue resolution and support digital continuity initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement in design and communication processes.
• Ensure adherence to DMU, PLM and configuration control processes, manage engineering data, documentation and deliverables in compliance with quality and configuration requirements.
• Prepare and deliver design reviews (Maturity phases, PDR, CDR, DFM).

Required Knowledge and Credentials

• Understanding of aerospace design principles and airworthiness requirements.
• Knowledge of metallic and composite design principles.
• Knowledge of processes and procedures related to design (RSDP, SIDP, AP, ABD, AIPI, AIPS, etc.).
• Experience using DocMaster, Airnavx and related tools.
• Experience as an aeroplane design signatory (checker/approver).
• Valid training certificates in VPM and PASS SSI.
• Experience in DMU reviews, interface point management and multi‑partner environments.
• Knowledge of MOD, DQN and RDR.
• Bi‑lingual (German and English).

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience in aerospace structural design.
• Proven experience working on aircraft programs such as A320, A330, A350, A380 or A400M.

• CATIA v5, SAP (PAC / PEA), PASS, Zamiz, PRIMES, GEMAVICC, GILDA, COLINA, TREND, VPM, AIRNav.
